INTERDISCIPLINARY PROJECT 2ND ESO: A BRAINBOX CARD GAME ABOUT "THE PARK OF LIFE"

After visiting The Park of Life and its different sections students have prepared a set of cards with information about the exhibitions they saw  there.

We have used this Brainbox game in class to check how much students learnt during their visit. Do you know how to play? Students  in turns pick a card and have 15 seconds to read the information on the front side; then they roll the dice and have to answer the question at the back of the card with the same number they got.

If you click on the photograph above you can see a presentation with all the cards students prepared.

UNIT 4: WHAT NEXT (4th ESO)

WDYT? What do you think you will be doing in a few years' time? I don't know about you yet, but I do know that I will definitely be doing many different things..., can you guess why?

Well, that's part future, so let's focus on the present, which implies helping you with your English. What about revising some of the new vocabulary studied related to FUTURE GOALS, PLANS and ASPIRATIONS? These flashcards will help you study it:

To talk about the FUTURE you are obviously going to need FUTURE TENSES. We already revised some in the STARTER UNIT, remember? Well, there's big news: there are more!!! Sounds like fun, doesn't it?

First we have the FUTURE CONTINUOUS tense. Need more practice? Here it goes...

EXERCISE 1

EXERCISE 2

EXERCISE 3

Need a break? You will love this game. Just click on the photo to start playing.

Hope you had fun, but now we have to revise another future tense: the FUTURE PERFECT. Again, here you have some practice:

Another game? What about playing darts? Just click on the photo:

After all this practice, you should be able to decide when to use each. You can start with this LIVEWORKSHEET. You can also try these activities:

By now, you must be masters of the future, so you will ace this game!! Beware! It contains all the future tenses studied so far!

Enough about tenses! Time for some new vocabulary, this time some common VERB + PREPOSITION combinations:

Did I say enough about the future? Ooops! My mistake Now you must revise how to use MODALS in the future. Well, to be honest, it's impossible, that's why you need to use other forms that include the meanings the modals convey:

ABILITY:
WILL / WON'T +  BE ABLE TO + INFINITIVE

OBLIGATION and NECESSITY:
WILL + HAVE TO / NEED TO + INFINITIVE

NO OBLIGATION / NO NECESSITY:
WON'T + + HAVE TO / NEED TO + INFINITIVE

Try this  EXERCISE  to practise them a bit.

When talking about the future, TIME CLAUSES are used a lot. That's why you must remember that the tense used in the time clause is the PRESENT SIMPLE.

This unit finishes with A FORMAL EMAIL. Maybe you will have to write quite a good number of them in the future, so you'd better be ready!

After all this hard work, I can only wish you a bright future ahead for you!

THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

3RD ESO students have been working on the digestive system in their Biology lessons. In English, we reinforced their knowledge by watching a video in class and completing a questionnaire to check comprehension.

Stand by Me

Click on the picture to listen to this wonderful song. You'll have to type in some words.

Enjoy!

A SURVEY ABOUT... 1ST ESO LEARNING SITUATION

Students in 1st ESO B wanted to find about their classmates' free time habits, so they prepared surveys about different topics. To do so they learnt how to make a questionnaire in Forms and shared them through Teams; everybody answered everybody else's questionnaire. Afterwards, they tried to summarize the results in a poster. Are you curious to know about their opinions? Have a look at the results:
